Health tips - Anaemia tips - Arthritis Tips


Anaemia




  • Have ripe banana with 1 table spoon honey every day for anaemia.
  • Juice of  beetroot taken 1-2 times daily is an excellent remedy for anaemia. Beetroot combined with Spinach leaves is also an effective method to solve anaemia problem.
  • Omega - 3 fatty acide are vital since they help in producing blood platelets and reduce inflammation.


  Arthritis





  • Swallow one tsp of sprouted fenugreek seeds or fenugeek powder with water on an empty stomach in the morning, it is beneficial for Arthritis patients.
  • For pain relief, it is advisable for Arthritis patients to immerse the affected parts first in hot water for 3-4 minutes and then immediately in cold water for 1-2 minutes. The combination of both processes help in removing the root casue of the pain.
  • A massage with a mixture of coconut oil and lime juice on the affected part also helps to remove the pain in Arthritis patients. But before the massage, do not forget to treat the affected area with warm water.
  • Losing weight will reduce a significant amount of pain in your spinal column, knees,  hips, ankles and feet.
  • Stress is cited as one of the causes of Arthritis, therefore it is advisable to try stress management for relaxation.
  • Use muscle relaxant/ointment before going to bed at night.
  • Consult an experienced Yoga Teacher, and learn good yogic exercises to reduce pain.
  • Spend an hour in a water tub with water heated up to 93.5 deg. F.
  • Use of copper bracelet helps some people in reducing pain.
  • Tested herbal drugs can be used to reduce pain.
  • Use of fish oil containing A and D vitamins helps some people. Intake of adequate Vitamin C seeme to help.
  • Drink carrot, cucumber or lemon Juice to reduce pain. Intake of vegetable juice and limited food also helps. Spices like chili powder are best avoided.
  • Massage by trained Physiotherapists help to relieve the pain.
      Asthma

  •  Ashmatic children should take a paste of 5 tulsi leaves along with one teaspoon honey every morning and evening for a month
  • A massage of warm garlic mustard oil on chest,abdommen and back gives some relief in Asthma and cold. For making garlic mustard oil - head  ½ cup mustard oil along with 8 -10 roughly cut garlic pods. Remove from fire when garlic turuns brown. Coll and bottle it When ever you need it, warm it and use.
  • To improve stamina and fight asthma, take 4 almonds, cardamoms, cloves and raisins each and soak overnight with a few black pepper corns. Grind in the morning with milk and a little water. Boil the blended liquid for few minutes and drink warm.
  • Eat ripe fruits and baked or roasted food . Oily or fried foods adversely affect the condition for Asthma.
  • For relief from Asthma take one teaspoonful of ginger powder and one teaspoonful of licorice poeder. Add half a litre of water and boil the mixture till it reduces to one fourth (about 125 ml.). Strain it and drink it warm. Adding a teaspoonful of honey or one gram of common salt is beneficial

      Face
               Pimples , Boils and Acne 

        
      • To get rid of pimple, mix rose water & lemon juice in equal quantities and apply on your face . Leave it on for half an hour and then wash it off with water.
      • For relief from pimple you can also grind dry orange peels into a fine powder . Make a paste of this powder with eqal quantity of gram flour and same rose water. Apply on your face, keep it for 10 - 15 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.
      • To get rid of pimple-marks and blackheads etc. Make a paste of hutmeg (Jaiphal) and milk. Apply it on your face & let it dry. Later, rub it off and wash your face with warm water.
      • For bolis or pimples of any size, simply apply sandal paste on the area for quick results. You can also use the sandal tablets available for doing your prayers.
      • If you are Acne prone then avoid oil-based make-up, hair gels and sprays, stress,  squeezing or picking at the pimple and hard scrubbing of skin. Take 50 ml.of tomato juice and mix with one teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply this mixture to the face. It helps to make the skin soft and glowing.
            Dark Circles


      • To get rid of dark circles under your eyes, make a paste of  1 tsp. tomato juice, ½ tsp . lemon juice, a spoon or of gram flour and a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply it on the dark circles and wash off after 10 - 15 minutes.
      • To remove dark circles around the eyes, place cotton wool swabs dipped in cold millk on closed eyes.
      • Apply a slice of row cold potato to your eyes. It will reduce puffiness around the eyes.







        Beautiful Eyes
          
         
            
      • Lack of oil glands around the eyes  and facial expressions contribute to crowfeed and  wrinkling around the  eyes. To control it, one should apply a good moisturizer around the eyes  from an early age 
      • For long eyelashes coat a thin layer of castor oil every night . It also helps strengthen the lashes and cools your eyes.  
      • Applying lukewarm olive oil 3-4 times a week can also help grow thick eyebrows and heavy eyelashes. 
          Complexion
        
      • Regular application of mint juice to the face helps to remove blemishes.
      • For fairer complexion, make a paste of 4 almonds (previously soaked in water for 5 - 6 hours) and milk. Apply on your face before going to bed at night. Wash it off in the morning  with water.
      • Apply a paste of turmeric, sandal powder and fresh cream over your face to make it glow.
      • Take equal quantities of turmeric powder and wheat flour and make a paste with sesame oil. Apply it to the face to remove unwanted hair.
      • Make a paste of raw carrot and apply it to the face. wash it after one hour . the skin will glow.
      • Take 30 ml. of cabbage juice and mix one teaspoon of  honey in it. This mixture, if applied regularly to the face, helps keep the wrinkles away.
      • Apply orange juice to the face for smooth and soft skin.
      • For sun tan - mix one tsp besan/gram flour flour with tomato juice. Apply all over the face and other tanned areas of the body. Leave it for 10 minutes. Wash with cold water.
              Hair
      •  Excessive dryness leads to hair splitting and breaking, so nourish your hair with deep conditioning oil treatment and hair pack of protein egg yolk once every ten days.
      • For normal hair apply only the egg white with lemon juice . Adding only the egg white to any recipe for hair care saves you from the stench of the egg as it is only the yellow that causes the stench.
      • Use henna with coffee powder on your hair for getting medium brown colour.
      • For nourishing hair heat 500 ml of coconut oil pour it on a handful each of tulsi ( ocimum ) leaves and fresh or dried hibiscus, marigold, leaves. Allow to steep for a day.
      • Applying oil frequently is good though you need not keep it overnight. Just an hour before your bath should suffice.
      • in these times of polluted environment, it is better to wash you hair frequently. Using conditioner helps keep your hair looking fresh for a longer period of time.
      • Use a styling gel if your hair are too straight and fall on your forehead. This is especially helpful for children. Applying oil leads to attracting dust and is out of synch with to day's Fashion choices.
      • While washing hair add a little vineger or lemon juice  to a mug of water & use it as the last rinse. It is a wonderful conditioner which makes hair very soft & shiny.
      • For strong & shiny hair, use the water in which rice had been soked earlier as a last rinse.
      • for brighter hair, put lemon juice and sea water on the hair and sit in the sun for a while, then wash.
      • It is best to use conditioner separately to get the extra shine. Also make sure to apply shampoo and wash hair at least twice before you apply conditioner.
      • A natural way to make your hair shine and make it feel thicker is to apply Reetha . soak the seeds of reetha in hot water for a couple of hours. Before washing your hair seuqeeze out the juice of reetha into the soaked water and then filter and as shampoo. It's a great cleanser too. 
            Dandruff
        
      • 1 Cup vineger mixed with 1 cup water can be used to wash hair to remove dandruff.
      • Apply juice of a lemon to hair for 10 minutes before a head bath to rid yourself of dandruff.
      • To control dandruff during winter apply apple juice to the scalp, leave for half an hour and wash afterward with cool water.
      • castor oil massage is a good remedy for danruff and hair fall.
          Hair loss and Balding

      • Use natural products to clean hair. As most soaps and shampoos have chemicals, they might be the cause of your problem. Gooseberry and Shikakai are very commonly used in india for washing the hair. Soak them overnight in water, then squeeze, filter and use as a shampoo
      • Oiling and massaging of scalp is very beneficial for stopping hair loss. use coconut oil or mustard oil at least three times in a week. Avoid coconut oil in summer as it heats the head.
      • maintaining a regular bowel movement helps control hair loss . in case of constipation, a mild natural laxative can be taken. Triphala, an Ayurvedic herbal powder, is also useful.
      • Your diet should contain more green leafy vegetables, salads, milk, fruits and sprouts. Take more proteins, milk buttermilk, yeast, wheat germ, soybean and vitamin A
      • A combination of lettuce and spinach juice is good to drink to induce hair growth. The juice of alfalfa mixed with that of carrot and lettuce juice is also good.
      • Daily application of  coconut oil mixed with lime juice on the hair is also benefical. Applying the juice of green coriander leaves or its paste on the scalp is also good
      • Washing the hair with a paste of cooked black gram and fenugreek 2-3 times a week, is said to help.
      • A paste of licorice made by grinding it in milk can be qapplied on the bald patches. It induces hair growth. A paste of seeds of lemon and black pepper may also be applied on the bald patches.
           Curly / Frizzy hair 
            

      • Whenever possible, ensure your hair stylist is a curly hair specialist; as curly hair shrink tremendously after drying, the apparent length of hair, after a haircut is misleading.
      • In humid places, keep hair at least shoulder length, as both length and weight are required to combat humidity.
      • Use conditioner more often, as even the mildest shampoo can cause dryness. Rinse the hair well after applying conditioner but don't do it vigorously.
      • a quick fix treatment for frizzy hair is to apply hand cream. Rub a spot of cream in your hands and smoothen on hair.
             Hands and feet

      • To treat your blackened elbows, rub them with lemon slices. Let that stay for 2 - 3 hours. later, rub off with a coarse towel dipped in hot water.
      • Rub lemon or orange peel to your hands to remove scars and odours of the kitchen.
      • perfume is a great substitute for nail polish remover.
             Cracked Feed


      • Melt paraffin wax, mix it with a little mustard oil and apply on affected area. Leave it over night. Cover it with muslin to avoid oiling bed linen. Do this regularly for 10 -15 days.
      • Rub your feet with a dry towel after your bath and apply glycerin mixed with fresh lemon juice and some rose water.
      Scent secrets


      • Perfumes are made up of many essences/ notes which evaporate at different rates. The concentration differs in different forms - eau de toilette, eau de cologne and eau de parfum / parfum . The first has a very high percentage of alcohol (sometimes 95% ) ; so will evaporate immediately. The second will stay for a little longer while the third is the real thing - more concentrated, hence more expensive.
             Proper use of perfume




      • Spray from arm's length, right after bath, because your pores will be open to absorb it 
      • Spray on your pulse points - wrists, inside of elbows, etc., as the warmth will help the perfume to evaporate.
      • The scen rises, so use some on your ankles and behind the kneess.
      • Perfume lasts longer on oily skins; so if you have dry skin; apply a little lotoin before spraying on .
      • Use of a  perfumed soap will interfere with the fragrance. This is one of the reasons why perfume in the store does not smell the same on our bodies
      • Don't wear perfume or other scents in the sunshine.it encourage burning of the skin and dark patches may show up.
            Using up left over Cologne / Perfume:

      •  Put a drop on li9ght bulb. When you light it up, the scent will float.
      • Make perfumed invites. Spray on corners of paper, let dry and put in envelopes.
      • Soak cotton balls and put them in pillowcases.
      • spray some on air conditioner vents.
      • Use up in oil - Diffusers to scent your home.
              Skin
      • To treat sunburns, mix the juice of a grated cucumber ½ tsp of glycerin and  ½ tsp of rose water. Apply on the affected area and leave it on for some time.
      • Mix Equal quantities of cucumber juice, rose water and lime juice . wash your face and apply. Leave it overnight. Rinse off in the morning. This clears the complexion and keeps it healthy.
      • Take 50 ml . row (not boiled) milk and mix a pinch of salt and two teaspoonful of lime juice in it . Use it as a cleansing lotion. it helps to clean the deep pores of the skin.
      • Mix equal quantities of lime juice, glycerin and rose water. This lotion if applied to the face regularly at bed time is very useful in removing pimples, blackheads and other marks of the skin . it makes of the skin . it makes the skin soft, and can also be applied to other parts of the body ( hands, feet etc.) 
      • Moisturizers are water sealers. They provent water loss and have a softtening and soothing effect on the skin.
      • Mix oat meal with milk. Use it as a body scrub for glowing skin.
      • For good skin and blushing pink cheeks, apply beetroot, just after you finish your make up. It will work as a natural rouge. just cut the beetroot into half, tab a little bit. Don't tab too mush as it will make cheeks turn purple. 
               Winter skin

      • Oil-based moisturizers rather than water-based ones help create a protective layer on the skin that retains more moisture than a cream or lotion. Take special care of your lips, hands and feet as they tend to dry fast.
      • It is important to use sunscreen even in winter as you will still go out in the sun.
      • Avoid frequent face peels and mask to retain moisture.
      • soaking in a burning-hot bath feel great but the intense heat of a hot shower or bath, actually breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin, which can lead to loss of moisture.
           Teeth
      • Add a drop of olive oil to the toothpaste before brushing your teeth .it keeps the tooth-enamel shining.
      • Brush your teeth by using a slightly soft toothbrush and a toothpaste containing fluoride at least once a day to remove plaque.
      • spend at least three minutes cleaning your teeth, but remember to be gentle.
      • Brush immediately before going to bed and avoid excessive intake of sweets. These are two of the most essential tips for making your teeth last long.
      • Run dental floss though your teeth once a day to remove food particles and to prevent build up of plaque.
      • ½ Tbsp sesame seeds should to be chewed at night for stronger teeth and fresh breath.
